FIX API Reference
FIX (Financial Information eXchange) is an electronic messaging protocol widely adopted by financial institutions to transmit trading activity such as submitting or canceling orders and receiving execution information. The API is based on FIX 4.2 and modeled after common forex FIX implementations.

Message Types ¶
The supported message types and corresponding fields are listed in this section. The required fields outside of the standard headers for the message type are highlighted.
Logon ¶
A FIX session is initiated by the client with a Logon message. EncryptedMethod (FIX tag 98) must be set to 0. HeartBtInt (108) needs to be set, the default value is 30 seconds.

Logon with Reset Sequence Number Flag ¶
The API supports client initiated message sequence number resets via Logon with ResetSeqNumFlag (141) set to Y.

Replay Messages ¶
Replay messages, also known as resend request, logic is the session mechanism used to request a range of ordered messages be sent from the counterparty. Replaying messages can be used to request a single message, a range of messages, or all messages subsequent to a particular message. For example, the receiving application sends the replay message to initiate the retransmission of messages if:
- a gap in sequence numbers is detected,
- the receiving application lost a message, or
- higher than expected message sequence numbers are detected from the counterparty.
The counterparty then resends the requested message range sequentially until both systems are back in sequence.

Heartbeat ¶
In standard FIX, when either end of the FIX connection has not received a message in HeartBtInt (108) seconds, a heartbeat message will be transmitted (MsgType 0). As noted above, the default value for HeartBtInt is 30 seconds.
The (Test Request 1) message forces a heartbeat from the opposing side. The (Test Request 1) message checks sequence numbers or verifies the connection status. The opposite side then responds to the (Test Request 1) with a (Heartbeat 0) containing the TestReqID (112).
The TestReqID (112) verifies that the opposite side is generating the heartbeat as the result of (Test Request 1) and not a normal timeout. The opposite side includes the TestReqID (112) in the resulting (Heartbeat 0). Any string can be used as the TestReqID (112) (one suggestion is to use a timestamp string).
During periods of inactivity, FIX clients should generate a heartbeat message at regular time intervals. The Heartbeat (0) message is used by a FIX client to monitor the status of the communication link. FIX clients should reset the heartbeat interval timer after every transmitted message (not just heartbeats). When the client stops receiving data for the specified heartbeat interval, it should send a (Test Request 1) message to verify the connection. The counterparty should send a (Heartbeat 0) message in response. If a party receives no (Heartbeat 0) message in a reasonable amount of time, the connection should be considered lost.

Reject (Type 3) ¶
The reject message should be issued when a message is received but cannot be properly processed due to a session-level rule violation.

New Order ¶
Orders should be submitted as New Order Single (MsgType D). The API currently supports market orders (OrdType 1), limit orders (OrdType 2), stop market orders (OrdType 3) and stop limit orders (OrdType 4). Price (44) must not be specified for market and stop market orders. In addition, market buy orders must include CashOrderQty (152), specifying the amount of fiat to convert to cryptocurrency. In the case of stop market and stop limit orders (currently only sell stop loss orders are supported), StopPx (99) needs to be provided. Market sell orders, stop market sell orders, stop limit sell orders, and all limit orders must specify OrderQty 38. HandlInst (21) must be set to with a value of 1. Along with the currency pair populated in Symbol (55), the SecurityType (167) must be set to FOR.
Note that limit orders for XBT and ETH have a tick size requirement. Price (44) for all XBT markets must be evenly divisible by 0.25, and for all ETH markets must be evenly divisible by 0.05. In addition, the maximum allowed notional value for a market order is 500,000 USD. The maximum allowed notional value for a limit order is 1,500,000 USD for XBTUSD and ETHUSD markets, and 1,000,000 USD for other markets.
Note: Limit Orders will be rejected if order is taker and price deviates a 15% or more from the midpoint.

Execution Report - Order Status ¶
An order status request message will return the current status of an order. The fields lastShares (32) and and lastPx (31) contain the price and amount of the the latest partial or full execution of the order, a completed order will have a value of 0 in the LeavesQty (151) field. Note: lastShares (32) was relabeled as lastQty in later versions of FIX, the tag number and purpose are identical.

Logout ¶
A logout message initiates or confirms the termination of a FIX session. Disconnection without the exchange of logout messages should be interpreted as an abnormal condition. An unsolicited logout may indicate a connection or account issue, SendingTime (52) will have a human readable message indicating if there is an issue. In some cases, a logout message may be associated with an account’s trading permissions being suspended; if you are unable to reconnect with ResetSeqNumFlag (141) set to Y, please engage with support.
